Mango Valley Hotel, Bed and Breakfast is located in Grecia, Costa Rica. Grecia is situated about 12 miles northwest of the airport and 27 miles west of San Jose (the capital of Costa Rica). Grecia is mostly known for it’s unique red metal church "The Cathedral de la Mercedes". It is also known as Latin America’s cleanest town.
Grecia offers a hospital, shopping mall, restaurants and a modern movie theatre.
Our location is approximately 10 minutes from the center of Grecia. You can drive, or take a local bus or taxi. The bus ticket is 230 colones (about 40 cents) and taxi is around $6-8 (between 3,000 and 4,000 colones). The prices are for April 2009.
Mango Valley Hotel, Bed and Breakfast sits in the middle of 100s of acres of pristine valleys and hills that the "Tico Times" newspaper called "the Tuscany of Central America."
Wildlife is abundant, especially during the rain season. The variety of birds is incredible. Porcupines, armadillos, coatis, and even ant-eaters have been spotted right on the property.
We are situated in the heart of the central valley’s most beautiful and productive coffee and sugarcane growing region.
Mangos, oranges, guavas, cas, avocados, bananas, platanos, passion fruit, mini-pinaples and other tropical fruit abound in our area.

Getting to the Mango Valley Hotel Bed and Breakfast from the Juan Santamaria (San Jose, Alajuela) international airport
We provide a complimentary pick up or drop off at the airport with a minimum 3 night stay.
Note: you can rent a car right here in Grecia, so don’t feel pressured to rent at the airport.
If you are going to drive yourself, please print out the driving instructions. If you plan to take a taxi, print the driving instructions in Spanish and give them to the driver. Most taxi drivers don’t speak English.

Weather and Climate
The mountains overlooking the town of Grecia provide the perfect climate (68-82 degrees F; 20-28ºC). You don’t need a heater or an air conditioner.
Water is pristine. Rivers and springs are everywhere.
Unlike other parts of Costa Rica, our area is beautiful and GREEN all year round.
Dry season starts in late November and ends in mid-May. The windy months are mid-December to mid-February.
During the rain season it doesn’t rain all the time. It’s almost always sunny in the morning. In the afternoon it rains for an hour or 2 and then it’s back to the sunny skies. The wildlife is more abundant and active during the rain season. You can make amazing pictures of green parrots at this time.
In July there is a 1-2 week break without rain.
The rainiest time is mid-September to mid-November.
Our area is famous for its spring-like weather. It’s never too cold or too hot. That’s why locals insist that it’s "the best climate in the world".
