Terms and conditions

These conditions govern your stay, reservation, and use of Mango Valley facilities. By booking or checking in with us, you agree to comply with them.

Last updated: July 2026

Acceptance and scope

Mango Valley is a boutique hotel located in Grecia, Alajuela Province, Costa Rica. These terms apply to all reservations, stays, and use of our suites, common areas, trails, and services.

By completing a reservation, checking in at reception, or remaining on the property, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these conditions on behalf of yourself and all members of your party.

Reservations, check-in, and check-out

Check-in is available from 3:00 p.m. and check-out must be completed by 11:00 a.m., unless otherwise agreed in writing with reception.

To check in, every adult guest must present valid photo identification. Reservations must be guaranteed with a valid credit or debit card in the name of the booking holder.

Published rates may vary by season, occupancy, and suite type. Applicable taxes and authorized additional charges will be disclosed at the time of booking or during check-in.

Special requests—such as late arrivals, extra beds, or suite preparation—will be handled subject to availability but are not guaranteed until expressly confirmed.

Cancellation and refund policy

Cancellations made more than 14 days before the arrival date will receive a full refund of the deposit or prepayment, minus only non-recoverable bank or processing fees.

Cancellations between 14 and 7 days before arrival are subject to a charge equal to 50% of the total reserved stay.

Cancellations within 7 days of arrival, late arrivals, early departures, or no-shows may result in a charge of 100% of the reserved stay.

During peak seasons, holidays, or special dates, different conditions may apply and will be communicated when the reservation is confirmed.

Approved refunds will be processed within a reasonable timeframe to the same payment method used, subject to card issuer or bank processing times.

Reservation changes

Changes to dates, suite type, or occupancy are subject to availability and may require a rate adjustment.

If a change is requested within the restrictive cancellation window, the same penalty conditions listed in the cancellation policy may apply.

Pet policy

For the wellbeing of local wildlife, the comfort of other guests, and preservation of the natural setting, Mango Valley does not allow pets in suites or common areas unless previously approved in writing by management.

In exceptional pre-approved cases, an additional cleaning fee may apply and the guest will be responsible for any damage, noise, or disturbance caused by the animal.

Duly documented service animals in accordance with applicable regulations are welcome. We ask that you notify us in advance so we can coordinate a comfortable and safe stay.

Guest conduct and use of facilities

Mango Valley is a retreat focused on rest. Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., especially on balconies, terraces, and open areas.

Smoking is prohibited inside suites and enclosed spaces. Alcohol must be consumed responsibly. We reserve the right to refuse service or request departure of anyone who disrupts the peace, safety, or wellbeing of other guests or staff.

Suites and furnishings must be used for lodging purposes only. Unauthorized parties, events, or occupancy above the number booked are not permitted.

Natural setting and outdoor activities

Our property sits within a tropical rainforest environment. When walking on trails, terraces, pools, outdoor showers, bridges, or wet areas, you acknowledge that terrain may be uneven, slippery, or wet—especially during or after rain.

Appropriate footwear, caution, and constant supervision of minors are required. Birdwatching, pool use, hot tubs, and common areas are enjoyed at your own care and responsibility.

Feeding wildlife, removing plants, stones, or natural elements, lighting fires outside authorized areas, or entering restricted or unmarked zones is prohibited.

Safety, risks, and assumption of liability

By using Mango Valley facilities, you assume the inherent risks of staying at a hotel in a natural environment, including—but not limited to—wet or slippery surfaces, insects, vegetation, weather changes, steps, slopes, and self-guided recreational activities.

Mango Valley shall not be liable for injury, loss, or damage resulting from guest negligence, weather conditions, personal equipment failure, or participation in activities beyond the hotel's reasonable control.

This release does not limit rights that cannot be waived under applicable Costa Rican law.

Property damage and card authorization

Guests are responsible for their suite and party throughout the stay. Any damage, loss, theft, permanent staining, strong odors, unauthorized removal of hotel items, or extraordinary cleaning will be assessed by management.

At check-in, you authorize Mango Valley to charge the credit or debit card on file for repair, replacement, or specialized cleaning costs, including damage to furniture, linens, equipment, glassware, artwork, amenities, and common areas.

In cases of significant damage or conduct that puts property or others at risk, Mango Valley may terminate the stay immediately with no refund for unused nights.

Personal belongings and valuables

We recommend storing valuables in secure areas available in the suite or requesting assistance from reception. Mango Valley is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings, cash, jewelry, electronic devices, or documents left without proper custody.

Forgotten items will be kept for a reasonable period. Return shipping may be arranged at the guest's expense.

Minors

Minors must remain under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times, especially near pools, terraces, railings, and trails.

The adult booking holder assumes responsibility for the conduct and safety of accompanying minors.

Force majeure

Mango Valley shall not be liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, prolonged service outages, government-ordered closures, labor disputes, or essential supplier failures.

In such cases we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the stay or offer alternatives, without obligation for additional compensation except as required by law.

Privacy and communications

Personal data is handled under our Privacy Policy. We may contact you by email, phone, or WhatsApp for confirmations, assistance during your stay, or relevant operational information.

Governing law and contact

These terms are interpreted under the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Any dispute will preferably be resolved amicably and, if not possible, submitted to the competent courts of the country.
